The annual report of World Economic Forum: Turkey is 126 in the rank of 134 on the subject of equality of women and men

The annual report of World Economic Forum on the subject of equality of women and men is announced. Iceland, which has a women prime minister, is top of the list while Turkey is 126 in the rank of 134. In the research, criteria are the position of women on health, education, economic independency, and representation in political areas compared with men.

Norway, Finland, Sweden, New Zealand follows Iceland in the list on points of release of parents, high quality standards, encourage of state on childcare. Turkey, in that framework, is in order of 125 country of 134 while previous year 129th one. To mentioned specific results of Turkey, 61st in health area, 99th in politics, 131st on the area of economic participation and equality of opportunity, and 109th on the topic of education. In the list; Morocco, Benin, Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, Chad, and Yemen is the leaved countries behind Turkey.

England is in the same point with its own compared with previous year while USA firstly emerged in first 20 countries. France, on a different sense, regressed to 46th order from 18 due to the decrease of women minister in French government.

USA progressed in the list to 19 from 31 by the fact of increasing position of women in administration by support of President Barack Obama.

The sphere of health and education is the most crucial areas on inequality of women and men while crucial area of participation to economy and opportunity equalities is reported as discrimination.

Klaus Schwab, as founder and chairman of World Economic Forum, emphasized the strong relationship between the low levels of economic inequality and economic competition, while adding the view that to be able to extend and have welfare, there should be equality for women.

Turkey, also, accompanied in previous year on the list of “Insufficient countries on gender equalities” with Qatar, Egypt, Mali, Saudi Arabia, Persia, Benin, Pakistan, Chad, and Yemen.
