The 10th Issue of SİYAH E-Magazine Published on International Democracy Day

SİYAH E-Magazine has released its 10th issue. This edition focuses on thinking and listening practices as one of the cornerstones of democracy. It opens a discussion on the significance of silence, non-violence, and listening to diverse voices through the lenses of art, literature, cinema, and music.

What’s inside this issue?

The new issue features an in-depth interview with artist Cengizhan Polat (Uyu Varmadık Daha) from the Sesimiz Ol Platform. In the Civil Society Corner, the article “Is an Independent and Dignified Life Possible?: How is Turkey Aging?” examines the reality of aging in Turkey and aging policies, offering striking insights.

In the film section, Sebastián Lelio’s Oscar-winning A Fantastic Woman is analyzed in the context of non-violence, while Halit Refiğ’s cult work Hanım is revisited from a fresh perspective. The music section includes the article “The Melody of Peace: Can Notes Stand Against War?” which explores music’s impact on social conflicts and a culture of peace.

In addition, the literature and essay section presents texts such as Seyahatü’l Kâbe, Jaylin, The Invisible Painting, and Filika, offering in-depth reflections on the theme of thinking and listening. In the arts and visual works section, readers will encounter pieces such as The Rhythm of Chaos, Embracing Oneself, Decay, and Conversations in the Shadows.
