How did the Young Artist Fund come about?

The Young Artist Fund (GSF) is a program running since 2018 with financial support, workshops and a group exhibition at the end of the semester for young people who are artists or who do not define themselves as artists but are producing.

Those who are underrepresented in civil society and in cultural and artistic institutions, who lack social and economic capital, face difficulties in social life, for example in the areas of education, social justice and gender identity/sexual orientation. In response and as a solution to this situation, the Ali İsmail Korkmaz Foundation (ALİKEV) offers a program where young people a say in management and production. With the Young Artist Fund, they are trying to open up a free production space that organizes solidarity rather than competition.

The GSF supports the participation of young artists in cultural life by promoting young artists from different production practices. With the GSF, ALİKEV aims to create a space where young people can express themselves through art. It opens the exhibition and platform gsf.alikev.org to young artists to increase the visibility of them and their works. It not only provides young artists with the financial support they need to turn their ideas into artworks, but also creates a space where young artists can come together with art professionals and share their experiences.
