Who can apply?
The MATRA Social Transformation Programme is open to applications from local organizations in Turkey, international civil society organizations, non-profit educational institutions, semi-governmental bodies, and local administrations. Partnerships with Dutch organizations and partners from other countries are allowed, but this is not a requirement.
Priority areas
MATRA identifies country-specific priority areas. The priority areas for Turkey are as follows:
- Law, legislation, and the judiciary
- Public administration and good governance
- Freedom of the media, media literacy, and pluralism
- Functioning of (parliamentary) democracy
- Building a resilient (civil) society
- Climate change and sustainability.
Application Procedure
Those wishing to apply to the programme can do so with a short video (maximum 3 minutes) explaining what the issue/problem is, why the project is needed, what makes the project unique, and what the expected impact of the project will be. At the beginning of the video, the organization’s name, the region/cities where the project will take place, the project title, and an approximate budget estimate must be stated. The video must be in English or have English subtitles. All video applications should be sent by email to the following address: [email protected]
Video applications will be evaluated and shortlisted applicants/organizations will be contacted and asked to submit a more detailed written project proposal within two weeks. Unless this request is made explicitly and in writing, submitting the full application form will not be appropriate. After careful evaluation of the requested project proposals, the Embassy will make the final decision regarding the projects to be supported.
