The American Orchid Society (AOS) provides grant support for projects aimed at conserving orchid species and their habitats. NGOs and researchers aiming to protect endemic species and wildlife in Turkey can apply until August 1, 2026.
Program Purpose
AOS has established its funds on these three main pillars:
- Conservation: Protection of natural habitats, creation of conservation areas.
- Research: Taxonomy, genetic diversity, ecology, and propagation techniques.
- Education: Raising public awareness about the importance of orchids.
Who can apply?
- NGOs: Nature conservation associations, environmental foundations.
- Academic Institutions: Universities, botanical gardens, and arboretums.
- Students: Master's and doctoral students (for thesis work).
Grant amount and duration
Amount: Maximum of 5,000 USD per project.
Duration: Projects are generally expected to be completed within 1 year.
Priority topics
- Protection of species covered by CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
- Prevention of illegal collection.
- Habitat restoration.
- Ex-situ (off-site) conservation and seed banking efforts.
Application deadline
The program accepts applications in two cycles per year:
- First Cycle: February 1 (Passed)
- Second Cycle: August 1, 2026
