Applications for EU Investigative Journalism Award Started

Organized jointly by the Journalists' Association (Ankara) and the Balkan Investigative Journalism Network (BIRN) and with the support of the European Union; applications for the "European Union Investigative Journalism Awards", which aim to recognize and promote the extraordinary achievements of investigative journalists and increase the visibility of quality investigative journalism in the Western Balkans and Turkey, have started.

Applications for the award will close on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 14:00.

From January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021, applicants will be able to participate in the competition with their published news on freedom of expression, rule of law, transparency, abuse of power, violation of fundamental rights, corruption, and organized crime. Individually or as a group; Applications can be made with works published in print, online, radio, or television channels. The news must have been published within the 2021 calendar year. Journalists who want to apply, should fill out the application form on the Journalists' Association website and send the news they have submitted together with the form electronically (website link, audio/broadcast file, pdf file, or scanned image of the newspaper) to [email protected].
 

The awards are carried out as part of the project “Strengthening the Quality of Journalism and Independent Journalism in the Western Balkans and Turkey”. The winner of the first prize will be awarded 5.000 Euros, the second prize will be awarded 3.000 Euros, and the third prize will be awarded 2.000 Euros.
