Although the Serhat region has historically been a multicultural geography where different ethnic identities, languages, and faith groups lived together, the tightening of border regimes and the closure of the Turkey–Armenia border for many years have limited opportunities for inter-community and cross-border contact in the area. In this context, the program aims to bring young people together in safe dialogue environments, encourage them to question prejudices through encounters and experience sharing, and strengthen practices of living together through culture- and art-based methods.
Within the scope of the program, the experiences of young people will be brought together through activities such as a dialogue camp, a joint memory tour, and online meetings, while the observations and outcomes obtained will also be shared in an information brief.
Activities to be carried out within the program
• 3-day Dialogue Camp in Kars
• 2-day Joint Memory Tour along the Kars–Iğdır–Ağrı route
• Two online dialogue and experience sharing meetings with participants
• Preparation of an information brief titled “Perceptions of the Border and Needs Regarding Social Dialogue”
• Local stakeholder meetings in Kars, Iğdır, Van and Ağrı
The program aims to strengthen empathy, trust and mutual understanding among young people, contribute to the fight against discrimination and hate speech, and support the development of youth-centered dialogue mechanisms at the local level.
