The scholarship program is aimed at undergraduate students with an academic interest in democracy, rule of law, human rights, gender equality, or peace. Its purpose is to encourage young people who will contribute their ideas, energy, and talents to strengthening the culture of democracy.
To be eligible, applicants must be Turkish citizens between the ages of 18 and 25, enrolled in the second or third year of a university recognized by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Candidates are also expected to be socially engaged and motivated to work in the fields of human rights and civil society.
What does the program include?
The program provides a monthly stipend of 6,500 TL for 12 months. However, Agora is designed not only as a scholarship but as a comprehensive 12-month learning program. Agora fellows will have opportunities to meet leading experts in the field, speak at events, visit EU institutions, and connect with the Heinrich Böll Stiftung’s headquarters in Berlin.
