Applications open for the Law and Nature School

“Law and Nature School” will take place this year on June 5-6-7, 2024. The Law and Nature School, which will be organized by the Doğa Derneği, for the fourth time this year, has started to receive applications. The training, where developments related to the right to nature, the fight against climate change, climate justice and law will be discussed together, is open to applications from lawyers from different regions, age groups and genders. The program is coordinated by the Doğa Association's legal advisors, attorney Özlem Altıparmak and attorney Cem Altıparmak.

What is discussed at the School of Nature and Law?

  • The right to nature and the use of law as an effective instrument of nature advocacy,
  • National and international legal mechanisms that can be used in nature advocacy,
  • A look at the history of the struggle for nature in Turkey,
  • Administrative applications and court proceedings,
  • Review of project files and case studies
  • Advocacy experiences of the Doğa Derneği.
  • Nature and climate literacy,
  • Climate justice,
  • Living in harmony with nature.

Accommodation and other information

  • During the camp, it is possible to stay overnight in the nature school under modest conditions and pitch a tent.
  • Village school field visits, meals, tea and coffee as part of the program are provided by the Doğa School.
  • We strive to produce less waste during our school. Therefore, please do not forget to bring your water bottle, thermos and mug.
  • Transportation to the campsite is the responsibility of the participants. You will receive detailed information about transportation as soon as participation is confirmed.
  • The School of Nature workshops do not contain fixed narratives. The workshops follow a path based on conversation, co-production and thinking.

Those who want to improve themselves in the field of nature advocacy, who can adapt to collective and creative production processes, who are interested in the developments in Turkey and the world in the field of the right to nature and climate law;

  • Students of the Faculty of Law (4th class)
  • Law School academics
  • Lawyers in internship
  • Lawyers can apply as participants.
