Applications Open for Rights-based Media Training

The Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (um:ag) is organizing Rights-Based Media Training as part of the project titled Strengthening Civil Society for Participatory Democracy. The training is open for applications from representatives of civil society organizations, rights defenders, activists and journalists doing rights-based work in all regions of Turkey.

The topics and trainers of the courses offered in Rights-Based Media Training are as follows:

• Digital Storytelling / Mehmet Şafak Sarı
• Anatomy of News / Gökçer Tahincioğlu
• Rights-based Journalism / Tezcan Durna
• Human Rights and Digital Rights / Faruk Çayır
• Mobile Journalism / Can Ertuna
• Podcast / Kemal Göktas
• Participation in Political Processes / Özge Mumcu Aybars

The training will be held on 24-25-26-27 September 2022. The event, which will be held online via Zoom, is free of charge. Participants are required to attend all sessions within the scope of the training.

Participants will be determined by evaluating applications according to the following priorities:

• Completion of the application form,
• The purpose of the application is related to the training program,
• The applicant or the institution he/she represents conducts rights-based studies,
• Ensuring gender balance,
• Ensuring geographic balance.

Individuals wishing to participate in the training must complete the application form by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22. Training participants will be announced via email no later than Friday, September 23, and login information for the course (Zoom link, ID, and password) will be sent to participants.
