Bears in Mind is accepting applications for the 2026 Bear Conservation and Welfare Project Fund to support projects aimed at protecting bear species—primarily the Brown bear, Asiatic black bear, Sun bear, Sloth bear, and Spectacled bear—and their habitats worldwide.
Purpose of the program
The fund aims to support projects in the areas of bear and habitat conservation, scientific research, education and awareness activities, and the improvement of captive bear welfare.
Who can apply?
- Only organizations with legal entity status (NGOs, associations, etc.) may apply. Individual applications are not accepted.
- The fund is focused on Europe, Asia, and South America; organizations in Turkey may also apply.
- Each organization may submit only one application per year.
Grant support
- The maximum grant amount per project for 2026 has not yet been announced (it is announced on February 1st each year).
- Funding period: 1 year (follow-up applications can be submitted for eligible projects).
- Salaries at Western standards are not supported.
Important dates
Grant applications are accepted in two periods per year:
- Period 1 application deadline: March 1, 2026 (results announced on May 1)
- Period 2 application deadline: September 1, 2026 (results announced on November 1)
