BeMed: Call for Projects in the Mediterranean Islands

The Call for Micro-Initiatives, launched by Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed), seeks to support projects aimed at reducing plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea. BeMed provides financial support to stakeholders engaged in various types of projects, ranging from reduction of use, data collection, and awareness-raising, to waste management, recycling, advocacy, and the search for alternatives to plastic. 

The aim of this call is to promote all initiatives designed to reduce plastic pollution at the source. Great attention is paid to relevance in the local context to ensure the durability of the efforts made. 

Who can apply?

NGOs, local authorities, municipalities, companies with fewer than 20 employees, and scientific institutions are eligible stakeholders. Türkiye (Turkey) is explicitly listed as an eligible and Prioritary Country for this program. 

  • Funding Support: The maximum financial contribution is EUR 15,000, representing a maximum of 70% of the total project budget. Total project proposals should not exceed a budget of EUR 45,000. The duration of the support is between 12 and 24 months. 
  • Key Dates: The Application Deadline is set for January 5, 2026. Selected micro-initiatives are expected to start from June 2026. 
  • Application Process: Applications must be submitted via email. Applicants are strongly advised to download and carefully examine the call rules before defining and creating their proposals.
