British Library Endangered Archives Programme (EAP) Grant Call

The Endangered Archives Programme (EAP), administered by the British Library, is accepting applications for projects to digitize and preserve archival material from around the world that is in danger of destruction.

The aim of the programme is to create digital copies of archival collections with high research value that are at risk due to neglect, climate, or political instability, and to make these copies freely available to the public through the British Library's online portal.

Who Can Apply?

  • Individual researchers, academics, and institutions with experience in archival preservation and digitization.
  • The archival material must be located in a country outside of Western Europe and North America. (Turkey is an eligible country.)
  • The archive must date from before the middle of the 20th century and be in urgent need of safeguarding.

Key Dates

The application process has two stages:

  • Stage 1 - Deadline for Preliminary Applications: 7 November 2025, at midday GMT.
  • Stage 2 - Deadline for Detailed Applications: February (For invited applicants only).

Application Process

Applications are submitted in two stages via the EAP's online portal. The first stage is a preliminary application outlining the project and the endangered material. Successful applicants from this stage are invited to submit a detailed application, including a full description of the project, team, plan, and budget.
