Call for Grant Applications for 2026 Projects from the Swedish Consulate General in Istanbul

The Swedish Consulate General in Istanbul has announced a call for grant applications for projects to be implemented in 2026. The program is being carried out in line with Sweden's 2021–2027 Reform Cooperation Strategy for the Western Balkans and Turkey and the “Development Cooperation for a New Era” agenda. The deadline for applications is July 21, 2025.

Priority themes

Project applications will be given priority if they are developed in the following themes:

  • Freedom of expression and media freedom, and combating disinformation
  • Democratic participation of young people
  • Trade–development synergy
  • Access to rights for migrants and refugees

Who can apply?

Civil society organizations, associations, foundations, think tanks, and universities registered in Turkey are eligible to apply for the program.

Individual applications and for-profit organizations are not considered eligible applicants. Similarly, projects focused on humanitarian aid and psychosocial support are not supported under this call.

  • Stage 1: Submission of the Concept Note in English
  • Stage 2: Request for a detailed application file from selected organizations
  • Stage 3: Interview process

Other Matters

  • The organizational structure and projects of the applying organizations must incorporate a gender equality perspective.
  • Collaborations between different sectors and institutions are encouraged.
  • Priority may be given to projects implemented in different regions of Turkey.
  • Applicants with projects related to the Syrian crisis will be referred to the relevant program of the Swedish Development Agency Sida.
