Can Civil Society Create a New Game? – We Discussed It at PASAJ 2.0

“Can civil society create its own game instead of continuing to play the existing one?” This question was at the heart of PASAJ 2.0, held in Eskişehir between June 16 and 18. As STGM, we were in Eskişehir to explore this question and think together. Meltem Çolak and Murat Özçelebi from STGM participated in this creative and inspiring space where over 150 participants from various sectors gathered.

At the forum hosted by Sivil Düşün, we discussed how we can re-examine human rights in today's crisis-ridden conditions and how we can achieve justice, equality, and freedom of expression in different areas of daily life. Centered around the question, “How can we collectively design a just life while working, playing, building cities, or raising children?” we created space not only for thinking but also for feeling, imagining, and re-learning through the senses.

Throughout the forum, we encountered “living books,” challenged our perceptions in sensory workshops, and turned our knowledge upside down in mind workshops. At every step, we rediscovered creative ways of thinking based on rights.

We sincerely thank Civil Thought for making such a meeting space possible and for bringing together civil society actors on a platform where they can think freely and build solidarity.

This gathering reminded us once again: Defending rights is as much the work of civil society as reimagining them. And this imagination is stronger when built together.
