The program, carried out with the support of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), aims to contribute to the strengthening of a more resilient civil space in Turkey. In addition to financial support for civil society organizations, the program will also offer capacity building and joint learning opportunities.
The program’s priority thematic areas are as follows:
- LGBTIQ+ rights,
- Gender equality and women’s empowerment,
- Environment and climate justice.
Projects that include a minority rights perspective, focus on intersecting forms of discrimination, and strengthen partnerships within civil society are particularly encouraged.
The Program supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) is implemented by the Norwegian Helsinki Committee in cooperation with partner organizations in Turkey: The Flying Broom Women’s Communication and Research Association, University Queer Studies and LGBTI+ Solidarity Association, and the Armaş Foundation.
Who can apply?
The program is primarily open to civil society organizations operating in cities outside Istanbul and Ankara. As an exception, LGBTIQ+ rights organizations with legal entity status in Istanbul and Ankara can also apply. However, these applications are expected to be designed together with communities in cities where there are no LGBTIQ+ rights organizations with legal entity status, and for these communities to be actively involved in the project.
Selected projects under the program will receive a grant of NOK 150,000–210,000. Projects must be implemented in Turkey, run for 8 to 10 months, and be completed by 30 July 2027.
The application deadline is 2 August 2026.
Questions about the application process can be sent to [email protected] until 21 July 2026.
