The Air Quality Fund, run by the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC), has opened its 2026 application period to support projects aimed at creating nationwide policy changes by generating air pollution data.
Under the program, grant support will be provided to projects for a period of 18 months. Projects planning to install low-cost sensors are expected to receive approximately USD 50,000, while projects that will use regulatory-grade equipment are expected to receive funding of USD 75,000 or more.
Supported Activities / Areas
- Production and open data sharing of outdoor PM2.5 air quality data to support national-level clean air policies.
- Data-driven advocacy activities that promote the creation or improvement of air quality standards.
- Strategic efforts to attract greater investment in the field of air quality from governments and development agencies.
Eligibility Criteria
- All types of legal entities, including universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), for-profit companies, and public institutions, may apply.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to receive funding from US institutions and must hold an active bank account capable of accepting such funds.
- The program is open to institutions from all countries except EU/EEA countries and countries on the US sanctions list (projects to be implemented in Turkey and applications from Turkey are eligible).
