Civil Monitoring Programme is looking for young participants

Dört Mevsim Association is looking for young participants for the ‘Civil Monitoring’ Programme within the scope of the Local Youth Policies and Youth Strategy Project. In the programme, young people will monitor, observe, experience and report their findings on local youth policies and services.

Programme content

  • Trainings (Face-to-face - 3 days): Youth, Youth Rights and Policies Training, Participation Tools Training and Civil Monitoring Training
  • Study Visits: Youth units of two different municipalities in Izmir will be visited together with the project participants. The aim of these visits is for young people to get an idea about the youth approach of the municipalities and the formation process and functioning of youth policies. Young people will also have the opportunity to ask direct questions to decision makers.
  • Civic Monitoring Process: Through civic monitoring, young people will monitor, evaluate and experience local youth policies and activities in Izmir. The activities and centres of local municipalities will be monitored; research on youth policies will be conducted and all findings, opinions and experiences of young people will be collected and reported.
  • Participation and Advocacy Camp: After the monitoring activity and before the meeting with decision makers, it will be held with 25 young people who participated in the civic monitoring programme. In this camp, young people and municipality staff responsible for youth services will come together to discuss the findings. At the same time, it is aimed to increase the advocacy capacities of young people before the meetings with decision-makers.
  • Sharing the Civic Monitoring Report: After the camp, a visit will be organised with the youth to local decision makers and the findings of the youth civil monitoring report will be shared.

Application criteria

  • To reside in Izmir,
  • To be between 17-30 years old,   
  • Having an agenda or willingness to monitor and evaluate local youth policies and services in Izmir,
  • To be able to participate fully in the activities of the programme,
  • To have the motivation and time to carry out ‘civil monitoring’ between June - September 2025,
  • Regular attendance to the 3-day training process (attendance to all sessions of the training is expected, part-time attendance is not possible),
  • At the end of the process, civil monitoring findings will be shared at a meeting with the participation of relevant stakeholders. To take part in this process.

The programme quota is limited to 50 young people. Trainings will be held in 2 groups.

What is expected from the participants

  • Full attendance to all training sessions (1+1+1+1 days)
  • Active participation in field visits
  • Carrying out civil monitoring activities

*Participants of the Advocacy Camp to be held at the end of the programme will be selected from among the young people who have regularly participated and contributed to the previous programme activities.
