Common Good Cyber Fund (CGCF) 2026 Grant Program Applications Are Now Open

Common Good Cyber Fund (CGCF), established to support nonprofit organizations that strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem for the public good, has started accepting applications for its 2026 grant program. The program is managed by the Internet Society Foundation.

Program scope and grant amount

It is planned to distribute at least a total of 3.5 million USD in grants in 2026. Selected organizations will be provided with two-year operational (multi-year operating) support, typically ranging between 100,000 and 300,000 USD. (The maximum total amount per project will be 300,000 USD.)

Supported activities / areas

Projects are expected to serve at least one (or a prioritized one) of the following three main goals:

  • Goal 1 (Maintenance of Critical Cybersecurity Infrastructure): DNS security, large-scale threat detection, maintenance of open systems, and automation.
  • Goal 2 (Scalable Support Against Digital Harms): Rapid incident assistance for civil society and journalists, secure onboarding/multi-factor authentication (MFA) for high-risk users, and provision of protective services. (Special consideration will be given to gender-based digital attacks/TFGBV targeting women)
  • Goal 3 (A Safer Internet for Vulnerable Groups): Evidence-based policy/standards work, responsible vulnerability reporting pathways, and coordination mechanisms that improve ecosystem response.

Eligibility criteria (who can apply?)

Nonprofit organizations focused on cybersecurity (US 501(c)(3) or local equivalent).  Entities must have an official bank account under the organization's name that is able to receive funds from a US-based foundation.

Priority will be given to organizations that can build ecosystems in global majority countries, provide subgrants to smaller organizations, or have a track record in digital gender equality issues.

Application deadline: August 4, 2026 (21:00 UTC)
