The European Union's research and innovation programme Horizon Europe has published a new call to examine the impact of citizenship education on young people's democratic participation. Aiming to bring together educational institutions, public authorities and civil society actors, the call focuses on the role of education systems in reinforcing democratic values.
This call will scientifically examine the impact of citizenship education on young people's democratic participation, and innovative results are expected in the following areas.
- Evidence-based recommendations on the teaching, learning and assessment processes of citizenship education
- Effective and inclusive participation methods for young people aged 15–29, especially disadvantaged groups
- Models of collaboration between educational institutions and NGOs
- Development and dissemination of participatory, action-oriented, and democracy-based pedagogical approaches
