EIT Food, supported by the European Union, has published its sixth call for applications under the Impact Funding Framework (IFF). The program supports collaborations and innovative projects that will transform food systems in line with “From Farm to Fork,” the EU Green Deal, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Program Objective
The IFF Program supports collaborative and measurable impact-driven projects that will create long-term and systematic transformation in food systems. The program's priorities include:
- Enabling consumers to make informed choices
- Reducing the environmental impact of the food system
- Supporting a more holistic approach to health and food safety
- Developing innovative business models and skills
Applications will be accepted under two separate calls for proposals:
- Large-Scale Collaborative Programmes
- Innovative Single Projects
Focus Areas
For Collaborative Programs:
- Prevention of obesity and non-communicable diseases
- Reducing environmental damage associated with the food system
- Combating threats to food integrity and complex supply chains
For Single Projects:
- Promoting alternative proteins
- Contributing to farmers' Net Zero transition through regenerative agriculture practices
- Empowering consumers through labeling, packaging, and transparency practices
Eligibility Criteria
- Projects must be aligned with the EIT Food Strategic Agenda (2021–2027).
- Consortium formation is encouraged, but individual applications are also possible.
- An impact measurement plan and environmental assessment (preferably using the PEF methodology) must be submitted.
- Solutions to market or regulatory barriers should be proposed.
