The SGP (Small Grants Programme) implemented by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) has launched its application process to support Civil Society Organizations and local communities at the forefront of tackling climate change, species loss, land degradation, and other environmental crises. This call specifically covers the "Eastern Europe, Caucasus, and Central Asia" region.
Program scope and amount of support
Within the scope of the program, selected civil society organizations are provided with direct project grants of up to 300,000 USD. In addition, exclusive capacity building and training support will be offered to winners and finalists.
Supported activities / areas
- High-impact, replicable, and scalable environmental protection and nature-based solutions
- Inclusive approaches supporting women, youth, indigenous peoples, and local communities
- Knowledge sharing, peer learning, and development of partnerships among NGOs, governments, donors, and the private sector
Eligibility criteria
NGOs with sufficient technical and institutional capacity, a proven track record of past success/impact, and seeking funding to expand, disseminate, or scale up their work may apply.
Applications can be submitted in English, French, or Spanish.
How to apply?
The process consists of two stages.
Stage 1 (Concept Note) deadline: July 20, 2026.
For those who pass the concept note stage, the Stage 2 full proposal deadline is September 18, 2026.
