The program is based on the principle of rewarding projects that have been realized or are at the implementation stage, rather than being a classic "project grant".
Which projects can apply?
The main requirement is that the applying project must provide a solution to at least one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations.
- Combating hunger,
- Quality education,
- Climate action,
- Gender equality,
- Tangible projects in areas such as sustainable cities are considered for evaluation.
Who can apply?
- Non-governmental organizations (Associations, Foundations)
- Social enterprises (structures that are for profit but produce social benefit)
- Public institutions
- Architects and designers.
- Students (They can also apply with conceptual projects).
Note: Application is completely free of charge.
Evaluation criteria
The jury scores projects based on these 5 questions:
- Problem Solving: Does it solve a problem?
- Ethics: Does it reflect moral standards?
- Social Relations: Does it strengthen group relations?
- Economy: Does it use resources efficiently?
- Benefit: Does it create a positive experience?
Prize Amount: iF Design sets a total prize pool of 100,000 Euros each year. This amount is distributed among the best projects selected by the jury (Usually, each project receives between 5,000 and 10,000 Euros). Additionally, winning projects are showcased within iF Design’s global network.
