IKI Large Grants 2025 Call Open

The International Climate Initiative (IKI) has announced the 2025 call for Large Grants for large-scale projects to be carried out in the fields of combating climate change, adaptation efforts, and the conservation of biodiversity.

Program objective

The call supports ambitious projects that aim to create lasting and sustainable impact in partner countries on global issues such as the climate crisis and biodiversity loss.

Who can apply?

  • German and international implementing organizations (NGOs, universities, research institutions, international organizations, etc.)
  • The call includes various thematic priorities, such as electricity grids, urban value chains, bioeconomy, and invasive species, as well as specific country priorities for Mexico, India, and South Africa.
  • Since Türkiye is included under the ODA framework, it can apply for thematic topics without a specific country priority (Priority 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11).

The amount of support per project, depending on the selected thematic areas, ranges from 12 to 20 million euros.

Key dates

  • Applications open: 17 November 2025
  • Project Outline Submission Deadline: 17 February 2026, 14:00 (CET)
  • Information Seminars: 2 and 3 December 2025 (online)

Application process

Applications are submitted in two stages. In the first stage, an English project outline is submitted. Applicants selected at this stage are invited to prepare a full project proposal in the second stage.
