Improved Legal Aid: Victims of Violence Support Centers Opened in 6 Provinces

UNDP and Turkish bar associations collaborated to expand access to legal services and counseling for vulnerable women.

Victims of Violence Support Centers were opened in six provinces with the aim of increasing access to justice for disadvantaged groups, particularly women who are exposed to domestic and other gender-based violence, and strengthening the legal aid services offered to them.

Lawyers who receive special training in national and international legislation, psychology, gender equality and social services will work at the Violence Victim Support Centers opened in Antalya, Balıkesir, Denizli, Mardin, Rize and Samsun. The aim is to provide services and guidance tailored to the needs of victims of violence. The work will be supported by outreach efforts aimed at informing the target audience who are unaware of their right to benefit from available legal aid services.
