Kaos GL Invites You to Contribute to Field Research

Kaos GL Association is seeking contributions to the surveys it has prepared for three studies on the experiences of poverty among young LGBTI+ individuals, rights violations in employment, and hate crimes based on homophobia and transphobia. The studies aim to make visible the problems faced by LGBTI+ people in Turkey and to provide data for rights-based advocacy efforts.

Research on the Poverty Experiences of Young LGBTI+ Individuals in Turkey

The research conducted by Kaos GL and 17 Mayıs associations aims to make the poverty experiences of young LGBTI+ individuals visible in Turkey. With the contribution of the Kaos GL Youth Advisory Board, data will be collected on the economic and social living conditions of LGBTI+ individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 as part of the research.

The study considers poverty not only as a lack of income but as a multidimensional experience that permeates different areas of daily life. In this context, the experiences of young LGBTI+ individuals regarding housing, education, working life, access to health services, social protection mechanisms, mental health, solidarity networks, and access to rights will be examined.

Research on the Status of LGBTI+ Individuals in Employment 2026

The 2026 Research on the Status of LGBTI+ Employees in the Private and Public Sectors in Turkey will provide a knowledge base for awareness-raising and capacity-building activities in the private sector and civil society. It will support efforts to develop special employment and gender equality policies that include LGBTI+ employees.

The results of the annual research conducted by the association play an important role in advocacy activities directed at the private sector, public sector, unions, professional chambers, and politicians. Each year, the study not only addresses the issues faced by LGBTI+ individuals in employment in Turkey but also includes solution recommendations.

The research titled “Homophobia and Transphobia-Based Hate Crimes Research” will be used to report human rights violations against lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and intersex people (LGBTI+).

The information obtained as a result of the research will be analyzed to prepare the 2026 report on hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The report will be shared with national and international organizations and will contribute to efforts towards the development of a comprehensive hate crimes legislation and policy for Turkey.
