mecliste.org: Invites to Participation and Monitoring in Legislation Training

mecliste.org continues its Participation and Monitoring in Legislation Trainings with the aim of empowering civil society to participate in and influence legislative activities. mecliste.org will organize the first face-to-face training of 2023 on 8-9-10 April 2023. The application deadline for the training is Sunday, March 26 at 20.00.

What Does the Training Aim to Achieve?

  • To provide theoretical and practical information on the tools and methods that enable citizens to have a say in politics and actively participate in governance in accordance with the principle of democratization,
  • This will facilitate the active participation of citizens and civil society in law-making processes, and the monitoring and evaluation of the impact of laws.

What Does the Training Target?

For its participants;

  • Basic knowledge of government systems and parliamentary structure;
  • Effective monitoring and evaluation of legislative and oversight processes;
  • Effective monitoring and evaluation of the functions, activities and duties of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey;
  • Active citizenship and participation in legislation;
  • Fact-checking;
  • Fundamentals of lobbying;
  • Advocacy cycle.

What are the Application Criteria?

  • To be a member of the structural body (board of directors or supervisory board member, founder, etc.) or professional structure of the civil society organization it represents.
  • Having experience in agenda setting on monitoring, evaluation and participation or having an interest in monitoring studies.
  • Volunteering to share possible monitoring, evaluation and participation activities with the mecliste.org platform after the program.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Good digital literacy.

Note 1: Quota is limited to 25 people. Application evaluations will be made in line with the diversity criteria.

Note 2: The online training, which is expected to be held in March, will be held 'face-to-face' upon popular demand. Applications for the 'online' training will also be valid for this training.

Note 3: Prior to the training, the participants will be asked to sign the PDPL Text within the scope of the protection of personal data.

Accommodation and Transportation

  • 'Participation and Monitoring in Legislation Training' will be held on April 8-9-10 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday) at the Best Hotel in Ankara.
  • Logistics and accommodation expenses for out-of-town participants will be covered by the Checks and Balances Network.
