Media Literacy and Information Verification Training for Local Journalists Begins

The Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (um:ag), with financial support from the European Union Delegation to Turkey, is organizing media literacy and information verification training for local journalists.

The main goal of the training is to familiarize participants with basic media literacy concepts and practices and provide them with the knowledge and tools they need to combat information irregularities and disinformation, which pose an increasing threat to democracy in today's information ecosystem.

Under the project, the same training will be held in 10 provinces from different regions of Turkey with different participants. The first full-day training, which will be held in Kayseri on February 16, 2023, is open to local journalists who work as freelancers or belong to a media organization.

Only journalists from Kayseri and surrounding provinces can apply for the training. Transportation and accommodation costs for participants will not be covered.

Please click to apply.

Participants will be determined by evaluating applications according to the following priorities:

  • Completion of the application form in its entirety
  • Active journalism by the applicant
  • Ensuring gender balance
  • The purpose of the application is related to the training program

Journalists who wish to participate in the training must complete the application form by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8.
