The report was prepared based on comprehensive reviews and research of a total of 109 institutions that provide fellowships in Turkey. The institutions were categorised as 77 foundations, 9 associations, 8 universities, 5 public institutions, and 10 others. The ‘other’ category included municipalities, civil society organisations, and private sector companies.
Fellowships are mainly for undergraduate students
According to the report, the top three higher education institutions that awarded the most fellowships in 2024 were Boğaziçi University, Middle East Technical University, and Istanbul Technical University. The fields with the highest concentration of scholarships were Engineering, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Medicine, and Law faculties. The average scholarship amount in 2024 was 3,500 TL.
The report also noted that the vast majority of fellowships were only available to undergraduate students, with associate degree students being excluded from many programmes.
