Mustafa Akgül Free Software 2026 Winter Camp is Starting

The event, organized by the Linux Users Association and Afyon Kocatepe University Computer Engineering Club, Software Engineering Club, and Informatics Community, will be held for 5 days between February 4-8, 2026, at Afyon Kocatepe University Ahmet Necdet Sezer Campus.

This event, aiming to promote the philosophy of Linux and free software in Turkey, has its roots in the courses organized before the Academic Informatics Conferences in 1999. Organized under the name Mustafa Akgül Free Software Winter Camp since 2019, the event aims to introduce participants to GNU/Linux and various free software through volunteer instructors who are experts in their fields.

In the camp, which is open to public and private sector employees as well as university students, trainings suited to different knowledge levels will be offered in parallel classes. Participation in the trainings is completely free; participants will only need to cover their own travel, accommodation, and meal expenses.

Taking into account the accommodation issues experienced in recent years, it has been decided that the 2026 Winter Camp will be held in Afyonkarahisar instead of Eskişehir. In line with this decision, quotas have been reserved in KYK dormitories for both male and female participants during the camp.
