Purposes and the Way of Work

The main purpose of IDDC is to protect and strengthen the rights of people with disabilities more effectively through information and experience sharing and cooperation. IDDC argues that development policies and practices are important in studies for this purpose and they should be handled together. Member organizations run different types of programs dealing with disability and development issues.

Membership and Membership Requirements

The first members of IDDC are donor and implementing NGOs located in Europe and North America and serving in southern countries, such as DPI. The overall decision, including groups that attend consortium meetings and have the opportunity to monitor IDDC's work in a variety of ways, is in favor of the IDDC remaining a small and informal but at the same time effective structure.

There are three different forms of membership:

Full membership, partner membership and individual membership.
