Following the 6 February earthquakes, we opened our Antakya Office in Hatay with the aim of increasing the resilience of civil society and we continue to develop collaborations that respond to local needs and contribute to the strengthening of civil society. In April, our office hosted many events and continued to collaborate with different organisations. A total of 69 people attended the meetings and events organised in the office throughout the month.
Thank you for your contributions to the needs survey
We received 19 applications to the needs survey that we published in April and prepared to shape the activities to be planned in our Antakya office together. The evaluation process of the applications will continue until 9 May 2025 and then we will start the planning process.
Who visited your office and what did we do?
During this period, our office was visited by organisations such as the Development Foundation of Turkey, Earthquake Solidarity Association, İskenderun Technical University Faculty of Architecture, Human Rights Foundation of Turkey and Hatay Artists Association. We also hosted 7 different events and meetings and provided venue support. Some of the events organised and supported are as follows:
- Development Foundation of Turkey (TKV) organised two team meetings and a child protection training during April after their visit to our office.
- Earthquake Solidarity Association visited our institution within the scope of the sub-grant programme and shared their activity plans.
- UNFPA held its Coordination Meeting. The coordination meeting on gender-based violence was held with the participation of 11 people.
- KODA Teacher Meeting was attended by 8 participants and the work carried out in village schools was evaluated.
- Iskenderun Technical University visited our office with 10 students to analyse historical buildings; on the same day we had a meeting with the Head of Interior Architecture Department.
- Purple Solidarity organised its member meeting with 12 women participants in our office.
- HRFT - Human Rights Foundation of Turkey introduced its EU funded projects for the protection of human rights defenders.
What else did we do?
- We attended the CEID Disaster Report Presentation Meeting.
- Within the scope of the volunteer work carried out by Yıldız Technical University Geonformatics Club in Hatay, 70 notebooks, crayons and erasers were purchased and packaged to be distributed to schools.
- We held new co-operation meetings. We held talks with Hatay Directorate of Probation on bringing the directorate together with local CSOs and participating in capacity building activities.
