Online Journalism Training for Journalism Students and New Graduates

Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation (um:ag) will organize Journalism Training for Journalism Students and New Graduates.

The project aims to strengthen the professional skills of journalism students and young journalists who are still unemployed five years after their graduation. In the program to be organized online, the lessons to be given in the training were collected in 5 days.

  • Anatomy of the News / Gökçer Tahincioğlu - Monday, April 18 (20.00-22.00) / Application - Tuesday, April 19 (18.00-19.00)
  • Combating Discriminatory Language in the News / Tezcan Durna - Tuesday, April 19 (20.00-22.00) / Application - Wednesday, April 27 (18.00-19.00)
  • Data Journalism / Pınar Dağ - Monday, April 25 (18.00-21.00)
  • Journalism in Times of Conflict / Can Ertuna - Wednesday, April 27 (20.00-22.00)
  • Investigative Journalism / Gülseren Adaklı - Thursday, April 28 (20.00-22.00)

This event, which will be held online via the Zoom application, is free of charge. Participants are required to attend all sessions within the scope of the training.

After the training, all participants will be expected to produce news. After the editorial process, the selected news will be published on different news sites as well as on the um:ag Journalists Platform.

Journalism students from every region of Turkey or journalism graduates who have passed 5 years at the most can apply for the training. Participants will be determined by evaluating the applications according to the following priorities:

  • The applicant must be a journalism student or a recent graduate
  • Filling the application form completely
  • Application purposes are related to the training program
  • Ensuring gender balance
  • Ensuring geographical balance

Persons who want to participate in the training must fill in the application form by 17.00 on Friday, April 14, 2022. The people who will attend the training will be announced via e-mail on April 17, 2022, at the latest, and the course log-in information (Zoom link, ID, and password) will be sent to the participants.
