In the previous period, we launched civil society–public meetings (the Civil Society Working Group) to strengthen cooperation with public institutions. In this new phase, these meetings will continue, providing a platform for networking, capacity building, and discussing recent developments in civil society–public collaboration.
During the second term of the Monitoring Freedom of Association Project, we will also continue monitoring civil society’s participation in decision-making processes. We will track the participation mechanisms of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), ministries, public institutions, and local governments, and share updates on developments affecting civic space with civil society organizations (CSOs). We will also map existing participation mechanisms and disseminate up-to-date information.
To strengthen civil participation at the local level, we will prepare a Local Participation Mechanisms Report, which will map existing mechanisms, highlight good practices, and provide recommendations to foster greater participation.
In addition, in cooperation with the Legislation Association (YASADER), we will support CSOs to take a more active role in legislative processes. In the new period, we will collect CSO input on draft laws, compile these into reports, and present them to members of parliament and relevant committees. Furthermore, we will carry out shadow monitoring and independent consultation processes on ministerial regulations, strategic plans, and other key documents. To encourage CSO participation in decision-making mechanisms, we will also organize consultation processes with local governments and public institutions.
