Roman Action Plan for Equal Life Elaborated

At the end of the workshop on rights of Roman people, 11 Roman civil society organizations met on July 22-23, 2022 and elaborated the "Establishing equality for Roma people in access to human rights: Action Plan for Equality". The Action Plan was submitted to the Ministry of Family and Social Services, various political parties and MPs.

In their proposals for the Roman Strategy Document and Action Plan (2022-2025), to be published between August and September 2022, they called for the consideration and implementation of the CSOs' demands and for an equal right, data-based and budgeted action plan.

Call for an inclusive action plan

"Achieving Equality for Roma People in Access to Human Rights: Action Plan for Equality" was created with four strategic goals. These are: strengthening and improving access to health services, access to social security services, safe workplaces and protection of workers' health, prevention of forced marriages at a young age, and prevention of substance abuse.

It is emphasized that the action plan for the new Roman strategy should have an inclusive, holistic understanding and consider human rights for different Roman groups such as Romani women, children and disabled people. A data-driven, measurable, budgeted, inclusive action plan is called for.
