Romani Godi launches social media campaign against prejudice: We are talking about anti-Gypsyism

Prejudices against the Romani, Dom, Lom, and Abdal communities continue to fuel inequalities encountered in all areas of life. Statements such as “Romani people don't work,” “Dom children don't study,” and “Romani neighborhoods are dangerous” are not just common expressions; they are the result of a discriminatory system that limits access to opportunities and undermines human dignity. To draw attention to this reality, Romani Godi has launched a new two-stage social media campaign: “Beyond Stereotypes: Talking About Antigypsyism.”

First stage: Questioning stereotypes

The first part of the campaign addresses commonly repeated stereotypes in society, revealing the social inequalities behind them. It emphasizes that exclusion of the Romani, Dom, Lom, and Abdal communities is not an individual problem, but a systemic one. This approach conveys that the source of discrimination is not “Romani-ness” but prejudices and stigmatization within the social structure.

Stage Two: We explain Antigypsyism

The second stage of the campaign addresses the issue in a broader context. What Antigypsyism is and how it is reproduced from the public sphere to everyday life is discussed with examples. Visible and invisible practices of discrimination are shared, and a call for solidarity is made for change.

Follow, share, and talk about the campaign

Romani Godi invites everyone to follow the campaign, share it, and be part of this discussion.
