SİYAH E-Magazine is Looking for a Volunteer Editor-in-Chief

SİYAH E-Magazine, published every two months by Leyli Art Association, continues its journey as a collective publication producing content in the fields of art, literature, cinema, gender, rights-based initiatives, and cultural production. The entirely volunteer-based team is looking for a Volunteer Editor-in-Chief to coordinate the editorial process of the magazine. The new volunteer manager of SİYAH E-Magazine is expected to take an active role in developing the magazine’s thematic structure, maintaining communication with writers, and ensuring the editorial integrity of each issue.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Publication Planning and Team Coordination

– Contributing to the selection of the period's theme,
– Creating and sharing the publication calendar with the team,
– Maintaining communication with the editorial team.

  • Managing the Content Process

– Evaluating content suggestions and adapting them to the theme,
– Keeping writers informed throughout the process,
– Tracking content submissions.

  • Running the Editorial Process

– Reviewing content together with the editor,
– Providing content development support to writers when necessary,
– Preparing texts for publication.

  • Preparation for Publication

– Forwarding content to the design team,
– Performing the final check of design outputs,
– Coordinating timely completion of the publication process.

Required Qualifications

  • Interest in editorial processes, writing, and publishing,
  • Ability in time management and taking responsibility,
  • Strong written and verbal communication,
  • Familiarity with Google Drive and basic digital tools,
  • Sensitivity to fields like art, culture, gender, and rights-based topics,
  • Motivation for volunteering.

Considered a plus:

  • Experience in magazine, blog, or publication projects
  • Editorial or copywriting experience
  • Basic knowledge of design or social media.
