Support to Life: Refugees' Future Plans and Needs Survey Data Published

As of December 8, the fall of the Assad regime in Syria ushered in a new era in the country that has been the scene of conflict since 2011. 7.2 million people have been internally displaced and 6.2 million people have sought refuge in other countries. The process of rebuilding the country remains uncertain.

Support to Life, which has been supporting refugees fleeing war to access basic rights and services since 2012 as part of its refugee support program, conducted a survey to understand the future plans and humanitarian needs of refugees in Turkey following the recent developments in Syria.

In the survey conducted betweenDecember 13-20, 2024 , a total of 460 households were interviewed; the plans and needs of 1,161 adults and 1,374 children, i.e. 2,542 people in total, were learned.

The survey was conducted in Kayseri, Kilis, Kütahya, Mardin, Şanlıurfa, Trabzon, Hatay, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş and İzmir.

According to the results of the survey,  53% of the respondents stated that they would like to stay  in Turkey, while  18.9% would like to return  to Syria, 8.9% would like to settle in a third country and  19% are undecided about  whether to stay or go.
