Support for Local Innovations Protecting Coral Reefs

The G20 Coral Research and Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP) has launched the "Coral Local Innovation Program (CLIP) 2026" call to support coral conservation efforts in developing countries. Researchers and NGOs from Turkey can apply to the program, which will provide grants of up to 100,000 USD for scalable conservation and restoration projects.

The program will finance local, cost-effective, and innovative solutions developed for the protection and restoration of corals. Supported projects are expected to:

  • Be applicable (replicable) in other regions,
  • Be scalable,
  • Enhance local capacity. 

Who can apply?

  • Applicant (Lead Institution): Non-profit organizations (NGOs), Universities, Research Institutes, Governmental Institutions, and For-Profit Organizations based in countries with LMIC status like Turkey.
  • Experience: The applying institution must have been operating for at least 2 years and be able to provide financial reports.
  • Team: The project leader must be a full-time employee. Partners from developed countries (Non-LMIC) may be included in the project, but cannot receive funding.

  • Assisted Evolution
  • Aquaculture/Automation
  • Cold-water Corals (could be a significant topic for Turkish seas)
  • Limiting early life stage mortality
  • Blending artificial and natural reefs

Maximum of 100,000 USD per project.

Project Duration: 12 - 24 Months.
