Urgent Action Fund has announced the Opportunity Grant program to support rights-based advocacy activities and unexpected advocacy opportunities led by women, trans, and non-binary (those who do not conform to the gender binary) leaders.
The program aims to support urgent and unplanned initiatives focused on advocacy work, raising awareness, influencing policy-making processes, and transforming public discourse. Applicants can receive grants of up to 8,000 USD. Supported activities must be completed and reported within six months after receiving the grant.
Who can apply?
The program is open to organizations whose key decision-makers are women, trans, or non-binary individuals and whose activities directly aim to strengthen the rights of these groups. Applications are expected to be based on an unplanned and time-sensitive opportunity or need, and the applicant should be recognized or supported by local or international feminist networks.
Applications are accepted from anywhere in the world and in all languages, and rights-based civil society organizations and activist groups operating in Turkey can also apply directly to the program. Organizations with an annual budget over 1 million USD and individuals who are not activists are not eligible. Pre-planned projects, routine service delivery, social assistance activities, scholarship programs, infrastructure investments, and general operating expenses are not supported under the grant.
Applications to the program are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications are reviewed in about 15 business days, and approved grants are expected to be disbursed within 5 to 10 business days. Applications can be submitted through Urgent Action Fund’s online grant portal or by filling out the application form and sending it via email.
