The transformation story of the Hangars at Atatürk Forest Farm is now live

The Hangars at Atatürk Forest Farm, which had been neglected for many years, have come back to life with the Placemaking Festival. This transformation process is now featured in the documentary “The Documentary That Changes Place, Changing the Place: Placemaking Festival / Atatürk Forest Farm Hangars.”

The Placemaking Festival, held on November 1–2, 2025, brought together cultural and arts institutions, local organizations, activists, artists, urban planners, and residents of Ankara in the same venue. With the participation of approximately 3,000 people, the festival provided a powerful example of how a space can be transformed through encounters, co-production, and collective dreams.

The documentary, which focuses on the transformation experienced during the festival, makes visible the intersecting stories, the concept of placemaking, and the relationship between people and space. The Roof team expresses the documentary’s approach with these words:

“Placemaking was an invitation that went beyond words. There was room for everyone at this gathering.”

The documentary was directed by Miray Gülsoy, with Tulya Çavuşoğlu as assistant director. The camera team included Bengi Aktar, Gülra Karabıyık, Miray Gülsoy, Nisa Çalhan, Pelin Kılıç, and Tulya Çavuşoğlu, while the music featured Göksu’s song “Zincir”.
