um:ag's Information Verification Training in September

Uğur Mumcu Foundation for Investigative Journalism (um:ag) is organizing an Information Verification Training for Local Journalists with the financial support of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey.

The main objective of the training is to introduce participants to basic media literacy concepts and practices, and to provide them with the knowledge and toolkit to combat information irregularities and disinformation, which increasingly pose a threat to democracy in today's information ecosystem.

  • The training will be held three times with different participants: on September 10 in Adana, September 17 in Van and September 24 in Trabzon.
  • The training will be open to applications from local journalists who are active in freelance or affiliated with a media organization.
  • Journalists from Adana, Van, Trabzon and neighboring cities can also apply for the training.
  • Participants will be responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses.

Applications will be evaluated according to the following priorities and participants will be selected:

  • Completion of the application form in full,
  • Application objectives are related to the training program,
  • The applicant is an active journalist,
  • Ensuring gender balance.

Journalists who wish to participate in the training should fill out the application form at least 2 days before the training date. Participants will be announced via e-mail and detailed information about the training program and location will be sent to the participants.
