UN calls for online survey on "Civil Society Field

The United Nations (UN) Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has started collecting opinions through an online survey for a thematic report it will prepare on the "civil society field." The last day to participate in the survey is March 6, 2026.

The call aims to contribute to the report to be prepared by the High Commissioner under Human Rights Council resolution 59/10 and to be presented at the Council’s 63rd session.

This study, which is a continuation of the report (A/HRC/32/20) presented at the Human Rights Council’s 32nd session on good practices and lessons learned for creating a safe and enabling environment for civil society, aims to review progress made in line with previous recommendations, analyze new and emerging trends related to civic space, and present an updated set of recommendations accordingly.

States, civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, UN agencies, and other relevant stakeholders can contribute to the survey prepared by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. Survey participants are expected to share good practices and measures taken to protect and expand civic space in their countries.

Organizations operating in a particular country are advised to provide information relevant to that country; organizations working on a global or regional scale are encouraged to share data for as many different countries and regions as possible.

The survey is available in English, French, and Spanish. For questions and requests, [email protected] can be used.

The deadline for applications is Friday, 6 March 2026, at 18:00 (Central European Time).

You can access the original English version of the call on the website of the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
