UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture 2027 Call: Direct Support Grants for NGOs

In order to support civil society organizations that provide direct assistance to victims of torture and their families, the United Nations has opened the grant application period for the 2027 budget year under the UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture (UNVFVT). The call, which also accepts applications from Turkey, is aimed at organizations working directly with victims in the field.

Program Objective

The main objective of the fund is to support torture survivors in rebuilding their lives and to strengthen their pursuit of justice and compensation in the face of severe human rights violations they have suffered. In this context, projects providing medical, psychological, legal, social, and humanitarian support to survivors are funded.

Who Can Apply?

  • Non-governmental organizations: Non-profit organizations with legal entity status.
  • Experience requirement: Having experience in providing direct support to torture survivors (rehabilitation, legal assistance, etc.). Rehabilitation centers, human rights organizations, and survivors’ associations are eligible to apply.
  • Eligibility: Applications are accepted from eligible countries, including Turkey.

Grant Support

  • The annual grant amount generally ranges from 30,000 to 100,000 USD.
  • New applicant organizations are typically advised to submit projects with lower budgets.
  • Eligible expenses cover project activities to be implemented between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2027.

  • Application opening date: January 15, 2026
  • Application deadline: March 1, 2026

Application Process

Applications will be submitted via the online Grant Management System (GMS) used by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Applications are accepted in English, French, or Spanish.
