UN Women Strong Civil Space - Phase II Call: Partnership Opportunity for NGOs

UN Women has launched the second phase of the "Strong Civil Space for Gender Equality" project, which aims to support women's organizations and women's rights advocates. The project aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of women's rights organizations, enhance their networking skills, and support their participation in decision-making mechanisms. Inviting civil society organizations from Turkey to take part in the project, UN Women will sign a contract with the selected organizations as the "Responsible Party".

The program aims to partner with CSOs that focus specifically on these three main areas.

  1. Networking and Solidarity: Strengthening collaborations between women's organizations at regional and national levels.
  2. Capacity Building: Enhancing advocacy, monitoring, and policy development skills of Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs).
  3. Safe Civic Space: Protecting women human rights defenders and developing strategies against the shrinking of civic space.

Who can apply?

  • Non-profit CSOs (Associations, Foundations) registered in Turkey
  • Especially women's rights organizations and women-led institutions
  • Organizations with at least 3-5 years of experience in the field of gender equality

The program application process is different from classic grant applications. UN Women will sign a "Partner Agreement" with the selected NGO, and under this agreement, the CSO will implement certain project outputs on behalf of UN Women as its field implementer.

Budget and duration

The budget allocated to the selected NGOs under the call varies depending on the scope of the proposed activity but is generally between USD 50,000 and USD 150,000. (For the exact figure, please refer to the "Terms of Reference" section in the call document).

Projects are generally expected to be completed within 12 to 24 months.
