Within the scope of the programme where two successful works are awarded each year, individuals, institutions or organisations that increase girls' and women's access to education, improve the quality of education and offer innovative approaches are deemed worthy of the award.
Who can apply?
Nominations can only be submitted by governments of UNESCO Member States or non-governmental organisations in official partnership with UNESCO. They may nominate up to three candidates (individuals, institutions or organisations) each year.
Individual direct applications cannot be made.
Each selected awardee will receive a financial support of USD 50,000.

Candidates wishing to apply should contact the National Commission for UNESCO, the Permanent Mission to UNESCO, or an NGO in official partnership with UNESCO in their country.
