UNICEF: Breaking Boundaries in Climate Technology for Child Health Grant Program

The Venture Fund, run by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation, has announced the 2026 “Climate Ventures” call to support technological solutions aimed at protecting children’s health from the effects of the climate crisis. Selected early-stage technology start-ups will receive up to USD 100,000 in equity-free grants. The program focuses on start-ups developing open-source and scalable solutions.

Which fields are supported?

The program particularly supports innovative solutions in the following areas:

  • Open-source technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and blockchain
  • Climate risk mapping and carbon footprint calculation tools
  • Early warning and prediction systems for floods, storms, epidemics, and extreme weather events
  • AI-powered analyses for health risks arising from climate change
  • Multilingual AI solutions and digital identity systems providing data for local governments and healthcare workers

Who can apply?

  • Technology startups registered in one of the UNICEF program countries (including Türkiye)
  • Teams developing solutions with an open-source license, a working prototype, and applicability in low-resource settings
  • Applications from women-led and young entrepreneur-founded startups are especially encouraged.
