We Attended the World Forum for Democracy

The World Forum for Democracy, organized every year by the Council of Europe, serves as a significant international platform that opens up space for global discussions on democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. The forum was held in Strasbourg, France, from November 5–7, 2025, with this year’s theme being “Democracy in Danger: How Can We Revitalize It?”

We participated in the forum as part of our Monitoring Freedom of Association II Project, which is supported by the European Union and carried out in collaboration with the Third Sector Foundation of Turkey (TÜSEV). We attended the forum along with representatives from the Memory Center, Transparency International Turkey, TÜSEV Lawyers Network, EU Presidency, the General Directorate of Foundations, and the Presidency’s Strategy and Budget Directorate.

The panels and workshops organized within the scope of the forum addressed current and critical topics such as cultural policies and democracy, the impact of artificial intelligence on democratic processes, citizen and civil participation, social media and democracy, visual disinformation, and the transformation of the information ecosystem. The discussions focused on rethinking the role of civil society in protecting and strengthening democratic values and on emphasizing the importance of multi-stakeholder collaborations.
