Wildlife Acoustics, a world leader in biodiversity monitoring technologies, continues its grant program for projects conducting bat and bird research. Instead of cash, the program provides professional recording devices and analysis software. The application deadline for the second round is May 15, 2026.
What does the grant cover?
No cash is given within this program. Instead, the following products, valued up to $4,000 USD, are granted.
- Song Meter Recording Devices: (Song Meter Mini, Micro, etc. bat and bird detectors).
- Kaleidoscope Pro Software: Licenses for sound analysis and species identification.
- Accessories: Microphones, protective cases, etc.
Who can apply?
- NGOs: Associations/foundations with tax-exempt or non-profit status.
- Universities: Academic research projects.
Note: Individual applications are generally not accepted unless made under the umbrella of an NGO or University.
Evaluation criteria
Projects are expected to clearly answer the following questions:
- Conservation Impact: How will these recordings concretely contribute to the conservation of that species or habitat?
- Data Sharing: Will the collected data be shared with the scientific community or the public?
- Need: The institution must prove that it cannot purchase this equipment with its own budget.
Application timeline
The program is open 4 times a year (quarterly).
