Funding may be used to cover hard reporting costs, creative fees, and other expenses directly supporting the production of new work. The grant is not intended for books, exhibitions, workshops, or other secondary materials.
Applicants are encouraged to submit a story-based project, rather than individual images. Submitted images do not need to be directly related to the proposal, but that should be specified in the application.
Women Photograph + Leica Grant
In partnership with Leica USA, a $10,000 USD grant will be awarded to one photographer working on a long-term documentary project.
Applicants must demonstrate substantial progress on their story and provide a clear vision of the work needed to complete the project. Additional weight will be given to applicants who are deeply engaged with the communities they photograph, beyond traditional journalistic approaches.
This grant is also primarily intended to fund new work but may partially support community engagement initiatives.
